At the end of 1987, the exhibition "Radical Realism. Concrete Abstraction" was opened at the National Museum in Warsaw, constituting a kind of summary and ennobling the entire trend of New Expression. Zbigniew Dowgiałło's painting "The Sinking of a Raft Full of Communists" hangs on the main wall of the Museum, as a flagship painting of the entire trend, at the same time predicting the imminent end of communism. It was also a call to fight to overthrow communism, while giving hope to people from the underground that the artists were with them.
